DESCRIPTION:The plans are set for the 4th Annual “Ride to the Ranch” hosted by the First Coast Chapter BMW CCA on the 10th of October. Please come join members from several different BMW CCA Chapters. We know it is a long drive for some of you\, but we would enjoy having as many members as can attend.  This is a no cost event to the members or their guests attending\, the Chapters are picking up the tab as in the past. So that is one less reason for not attending that has been removed. \nIf you are coming on Saturday morning we invite you to form a group to drive to the event. First Coast Chapter has done this for the past three years and everyone enjoys the drive with other members. Come on Friday evening\, if you want\, or spend Saturday night\, there is is plenty of space to set up a tent and camp. If you are not into camping\, there are plenty of hotels nearby in Lady Lake\, Leesburg\, The Villages\, and Belleview. \nAll Day Saturday\, come early and stay as long as you like. There will be signs on the roads nearby directing you to the ranch.

SUMMARY:Technical Session at German Motorwerks - September 26
DESCRIPTION:The next Chapter technical session will be held in Longwood at German Motorwerks\, which is located at 164 Hope St\, # 1070\, Longwood\, FL 32750\, starting at 9:00 am on Saturday\, September 26.  This annual event\, hosted by shop owners and longtime Chapter members Jim Shoemaker and Deborah Pandeline\, is for all car owners\, whether your car of choice is a vintage model or you are looking to understand the maintenance needs of current models.  Every BMW has particular “design issues” that lead to common repairs and specific maintenance practices needed to reduce breakdowns.  Plus\, Jim Shoemaker is a racing team crew chief/mechanic who can tell you about what to do for your particular car to make it better–however you want to define that term.  He can also tell you about some of the vintage restorations they are working on. \nThe shop is located south of SR 434 between I-4 and US 17/92.  Take either Highline Drive or Mingo Trail south from SR 434.  The shop is behind the Boar’s Head Meats distribution center.  If you get lost or need more information\, contact Deborah Pandeline at the shop\, 407-699-4151.

DESCRIPTION:Come join your fellow BMW owners at the 100-Car BMW Corral on Turn Six: This is the first year of the Tudor United SportsCar Championship 12-hour race. The sponsors for the 2014\, 12 Hours are BMW North America\, the BMW Performance Driving School\, Everglades and Sunshine Bimmers chapters of BMW CCA\, and the host\, the Florida Suncoast Chapter of BMW CCA. \nThe First Step: Get your Tickets\nOrder your tickets from Sebring International Raceway by phoning 800.626.7223\, or from the track website: http://sebringraceway.com/. On the right side of that page you will find the “BMW Car Corral.” (Children under 12 are admitted free with a paying adult. Be sure to bring earplugs.) Select the BMW Car Corral for 1\, 2\, or 4 Days. The BMW Corral will be manned on the 14th\, 15th\, and 16th (race day).  The ONLY way to get a BMW Corral Pass for Sebring is to purchase your ticket(s) with Corral Pass through Sebring. There are only100 parking spaces allocated for BMW\, MINI\, Rolls Royce\, and handicap parking in the corral\, so order yours soon. \nAbout the BMW Corral\nWe allow overnight camping in your BMW/MINI/RR or in a personal tent on Thursday and Friday nights. Just be aware that you WILL have to take your tent down by 8:00AM Saturday morning to make room for BMW parking. Sebring’s strict rule is ONLY BMWs\, MINIs\, RRs and Handicap Vehicle are allowed in the Corral. No open fires are allowed but you can prepare meals on a grill. There is 110V power in the BMW Corral Tent. You can sleep on your cot or air mattress in the Corral Tent if you choose. If you have a non-BMW car\, you can park in public parking and walk into the BMW Corral. Note: You are not required have to have a Corral Pass to walk-in. \nThe planned activities at the BMW Corral\nThere will be BMW-exclusive Parade Laps on the track. These Parade Laps will be Friday evening at a time to be determined (likely between 5:30PM and 6:30PM). Details and signup will be in the BMW Corral on Friday. Passengers are allowedin the BMW/MINI/RR cars that make the Parade Laps. You MUST have a BMW Corral Pass on your parking ticket to participate in the popular Parade Laps. \nPersonalized “Meet & Greet” with BMW Team race drivers and race team personalities on Friday in the Paddock at a time will be posted in the Corral. This is a nice opportunity to see the Z4 racecars up close and obtain BMW race team driver autographs. \nThe sponsoring BMW Performance Center will conduct a drawing in the BMW Corral for a Two-day BMW Performance Driving School at the South Carolina Factory. You are responsible for your own transportation to the school. This drawing will be during the race Saturday afternoon at 2:00PM. Tickets will be handed out in advance in the Corral. You must be present to win the Drivers School. \nWe will have closed circuit television feed of the race in the BMW Corral Tent. \nOther amenities of the BMW Corral include bottled water and light snacks\, restrooms\, private bleachers\, along with the private parking for 100 vehicles.  The BMW Race Team and BMW personnel will try to provide personal updates on the team effort in the BMW Corral. Time and frequency of the briefings depend of the progress of the race. \nYou may bring friends with you in your BMW; they are welcome in the BMW Corral. If you are not driving a BMW and park in the public parking\, you are welcome in the Corral. Please take time to sign the registration in the BMW Corral Tent. \nYou will receive your Corral Pass with Your Ticket(s) from Sebring. It is a small sticker in the corner of the Parking Pass. If the Corral Sticker is not on the Parking Pass\, you should contact Sebring immediately. Handicap-equipped vehicles with a BMW Corral Pass may access the Corral. The maximum size is a van. Note: A rental van with a Handicap Tag does NOT qualify. \nTo get to the BMW Corral\, take the road straight down the main midway road. Turn left at the BMW Corral Sign\, just past the Patron Hospitality Area. At the entrance to the BMW Corral there will be a guard to verify the Corral Sticker that allows access. Please consult the BMW Corral staff for a parking location. The BMW Corral is fenced in and controlled by the Sebring security staff. That makes the BMW Corral a special place at the 12 Hours of Sebring. SUMMARY:Sunrise to Sunset Tour
DESCRIPTION:Robin Butler has organized a Sunrise to Sunset tour for the weekend of February 14-16.  The event starts at 7:30 Friday night at the Coquina Beach Surf Club on St. Augustine Beach.  We stay overnight at the Ascend Collection Castillo Real.  We will arise early the next morning to view the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean before breakfast at the La Cocina International Restaurant and start our tour on less-traveled roads to St. Pete Beach\, our sunset destination.  The destination is the Postcard Inn on the Beach\, who’s Beach Bar & Grill is the oldest bar in St. Pete Beach.  The hotel rooms available are all booked\, but you may still join us for one of the dinners or on the tour across Florida.  To participate in the tour\, be at the La Cocina International Restaurant at 530 A1A Beach Blvd. in St. Augustine Beach by 8:30 am on Saturday morning.  Please contact Chapter President Al Butler at abutler@mpzero.com for more information.

SUMMARY:Rolex 24 at Daytona
DESCRIPTION:Cheer on the BMW race teams at the 52nd anniversary of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The race will serve as the debut event for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and will take place on January 25-26 at Daytona International Speedway.  The Speedway is offering a $25 discount on\n2-day tickets for the 24-hour race. Construction at the track will prevent car corrals or Saturday morning pace lap\, but there is a 2-day ticket discount (see image below from the First Coast Chapter’s September newsletter). Infield parking is all sold out; parking is available as of this writing outside the track between turns 1 and 2 for an additional $20. \nClick here for tickets!
